Talks & Lectures

John Atkin is an author, historian and heritage advocate who organizes and conduct tours for groups and individuals. John is also available for illustrated talks and lectures about Vancouver's history, development, planning and architecture.

Since the 1990s John has been a regular contributor to the Elder Hostel programs visiting the city where he talks on the history of Vancouver and leads a walk through Chinatown. John works with Canadian Cultural Landscapes of Quebec City to provide lectures on Vancouver and British Columbia history and is a frequent guest speaker at a number of groups including the Vancouver Historical Society.

Vancouver Walks and SkyTrain Explorer published by Stellar Press are in book stores now. Both John Atkin and Michael Kluckner (co-author of Vancouver Walks) are available to talk about the books.

Bus Tours

In addition to the talks John conducts bus tours of Vancouver and the region for groups such as Elder Hostel, Canadian Cultural Landscapes, conventions and incentive travel groups. Bus tours can be tailored to suit your needs or John can provide a set tour.

NEON TOURS

Here's our very first neon tour, outside
Wally's Burgers, ready to go!

Interested in Vancouver then why not join John Atkin and Angus McIntyre for the neon tour. Get a group together and we'll go looking at neon across the city in a vintage bus.

This tour is now by special arrangement only. E-mail John Atkin for further details. Check out the City of Vancouver's GVTV site for their item on the tour and watch the video.
